THE PATRIARCHAL TREASURE HIDDEN IN GORIZIA AND THE FVG BAN EXPIRES: HAS ANYONE THOUGHT OF THAT?
Who are we? A group of guys from Gorizia who care about Gorizia and her future. And since unlike those who criticize and just try to propose something in this void that envelops our city, we remind those who have to, namely the City, the Carigo Foundation, the regional Herpac that has an exhibition on fashion (?), the Archiepiscopal Curia, that on December 18, ie in a few days, expires the announcement issued by the regional department of culture that concerns the possible and lavish funding possible to celebrate the splendour of the Patriarchate of Aquileia, to which 2020 is dedicated.
You will say: what has Gorizia got to do with it? It has something to do with it, indeed, beyond Aquileia, ours is the city that more than any other could take advantage of this occasion, being the city that has possessed since 1752 the inestimable Treasure of Aquileia and that magnificent Donation, golden and silvery treasure with which the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria wanted to pay homage to the newborn Archbishopric. It would be an opportunity to obtain extra funding, of which our city is increasingly hungry, and to produce an exhibition whose importance could finally go beyond the Soča and attract cultural tourism to our city. It would be an opportunity to let the citizens of Gorizia discover what treasures their city is rich in, by setting up in Santa Chiara* at least a part of the objects in question that represent a unicum in the history of the Patriarchate and of the whole Italian Northeast (or Habsburg Southwest).
It would also be a true cultural scoop for the Region. Ours is perhaps a useless appeal and perhaps someone has already prepared himself for it. Allow us to doubt it, but we would like to be denied. We are available for any advice or help, completely free of charge.
