LETTER FROM THE COVERED MARKET: HERE ARE THE TREASURES OF GORIZIA
"I have a fruit and vegetable stall in the increasingly empty fruit and vegetable market of Gorizia and I remember when, not so many years ago, many customers from all over Friuli and Trieste, in particular, came every morning. Our beautiful market was (and still is) a distributor of first quality first fruits and vegetables, which came from the countryside of Gorizia, Cormons from Slovenia. Something magnificent, full of people full of life and our town was proud of us. This Market was a primacy, a marvel that for example Gusti di Frontiera - which is a beautiful event eh! - should exploit, making this place the centre of Gorizia's flavours instead of hiding it among the stalls for four days. I know that the Chamber of Commerce has some projects to improve the area: hopefully, they are not the usual promises. We should realize the service we do to the city and the agriculture of the territory; that the covered market is a wonderful showcase for our city. And I also say that since wine and food are cultures also the Market should be part of the proposal to make Gorizia and Nova Gorica the capital of culture: why not relaunch it and make it more beautiful with a cross-border plan? And excuse me: do you need to go on a trip to Madrid to find out?"
