MACEDONIO, MRAMOR & MAURENSIG: THE THEATRE, A VOCATION OF GORIZIA

08/02/2020

Gorizia has an important theatrical tradition supported by participation of spectators that does honour to the city and that derives not only from a centuries-old tradition, but that has been consolidated over time through a creative and productive will that has perhaps been underestimated, as de rest almost all the treasures it possesses. I speak for example of the good company that put together in the '60s the Gorizia Francesco Macedonio*, director of international value, "Il Piccolo Teatro città di Gorizia" that was a true miracle of artistic will. Around that project developed excellent professionalism, including Riccardo Canali and Gianfranco Saletta, but above all, it made many young people from Gorizia fall in love with the theatre also by staging "Il Mio Carso" by Scipio Slataper, in the theatrical transposition of the Trieste writer Furio Bordon. Who attended the premiere in the court of Lanzi in the castle, still remembers with amazement the energy of the acting of many young people of Gorizia and the formidable scenography. In short, Gorizia has produced quality theatre! Another example, not so distant in time, is the show, fabula in music, "La Variante di Luneburg"; based on the novel by the writer Paolo Maurensig from Gorizia (a theatrical adaptation made by the same), which saw on stage Walter Mramor (the artistic director of the Verdi Theatre of Gorizia, who also successfully directs the theatres of Cormons and Gradisca d'Isonzo) together with the singer Milva, on the original music by Maestro Valter Sivilotti. A show that on tour obtained the praise of the most important audiences throughout Italy and was circulated for many years. An ingenious operation that exploited Gorizia's peculiarities, in this case, a writer that Gorizia has almost forgotten but that continues to write and to have a lot of success so much to win, not long ago, the important prize "Scanno" with his book "The game of the gods". All this premise to affirm that Gorizia has in its veins a beautiful theatrical tradition, also of production and "acting school" (and in this regard, we can certainly mention Mauro Fontanini, Alfio Bertoni, Marino Zanetti). A productive and academic tradition that should be revived: it is true culture...

Luca Michelutti - Gorizia3.0

*Son of musicians - his father taught wind instruments to the glorious and unfortunately ex-music school of Gorizia - he was born in Idria in 1927, he always lived in Gorizia, "his" city, even if he had the greatest satisfactions in Trieste. He directed important shows for the Italian Theatre of Rijeka. From the website of La Contrada: "A sensitive, cultured and shy man, a lover of literature and cinema, he directed and trained an entire generation of young actors, not least the more than sixty boys who graduated from the Accademia Teatrale "Città di Trieste", the theatre school of the Contrada. And the students remember him, and how they remember him! The great friendship with Tullio Kezich gave the Contrada an acclaimed "trilogy" of Trieste at the turn of World War II. In October 2013, by popular demand, he returned to direct the Contrada's company in the text Two Pairs of Silk Stockings of Vienna by Carpinteri and Faraguna, which was once again a great success. His shows include I Rusteghi by Carlo Goldoni, I ragazzi irresistibili by Neil Simon, Il divo Garry by Noël Coward, Gin Game by Donald Coburn, Fuori i secondi and Svola cicogna by Enrico".
