Sergio Altieri (1930)

He lives and works in Capriva del Friuli. In 1949 he attended, together with Ignazio Doliach, the studio of the painter Gigi Castellani from Cremona. He joined the Neorealist Movement and took part in the artists' union meetings in Vicolo Florio in Udine where he met Giuseppe Zigaina and Pier Paolo Pasolini. He participates in the activities of the Provincial Association of Isontini Artists exhibiting in Gorizia, Nova Gorica, Villach, Venice and Milan. He enters in friendship with Cesare Mocchiutti, Ostiglio Gianandrea, Cesare Devetag, Armando Depetris, Mario Sartori, Mario Tudor, Raul Cenisi. He is one of the founders of the International Group of Visual Art "2xGO" which includes artists from Gorizia and Nova Gorica (then Yugoslavia) participating in exhibitions in Nova Gorica, Genoa, Venice, Idrija, Trieste. Ljublijana, Medea and Gorizia. He travels a lot in Europe, especially in the Balkan area, Austria, Germany, France, Greece, Turkey. He crosses Yugoslavia passing from Macedonia to Kosovo in the company of Ignazio Doliach and other friends from Gorizia. 

He exhibits at the VIII and IX Quadriennale d'Arte in Rome and is present in Milan at the important reviews of the San Fedele Prize and the Diomira Prize. Over the years he has held solo exhibitions in Venice, "Il Traghetto" gallery (1965, 1968,1973,1991); in Milan in the following galleries: "Totti" (1960), "La Parete" (1963), "Renzo Cortina" (1971). In 1971 at "Il Salotto" gallery in Genoa and in 1974 at "Nuova Margutta" in Rome. In 1977, in Vienna, at the "Wolfrum" gallery and many others. Numerous presences in the region. 1995, at the Società Operaia di Pordenone. 2000, at the Patriarchate Museum of Aquileia. 2003, at the Castle of Colloredo di Monte Albano. 2004, Cecchini Palace in Cordovado. The Regional Gallery of Contemporary Art "Luigi Spazzapan" of Gradisca d'Isonzo hosts a great anthological exhibition of his work in 1979; the exhibition, which is widely acclaimed, is presented by the critic Mario De Micheli. In 1990 another anthological exhibition in Pordenone, at the Sagittaria Gallery, presented and curated by Giancarlo Pauletto , critic of Portogruaro. From November 1, 2008 to January 18, 2009, again curated by Pauletto, the first floor of Villa Manin in Passariano hosts the most comprehensive exhibition on the work of the artist from Capri entitled "Sergio Altieri. Figures of the Myth. Works 1949 - 2008 ". This was followed in 2011 by a solo show in the hall of the Abbey of Sesto al Reghena where Altieri exhibited some paintings inspired by the frescoes of the Giotto school that can be admired in that important historical site. He painted a panel of the "Wall of the five languages" at Piedimonte del Calvario (Gorizia) along the boundary wall of the former cotton mill.
