Stupica Gabrijel (1913-1990)
He studied at the Academy of Art in Zagreb. After graduation he lived and worked in Zagreb until 1946 when he moved to Ljubljana, where he became professor of the new Academy of Fine Arts of which he is considered one of the founders. He increased his artistic education and cultural knowledge during numerous trips and long periods of work and study abroad. He is elected a member of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and the Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences. In addition to painting, he occasionally worked in graphics. He is considered one of the central figures among artists in Slovenia and Yugoslavia in the second half of the 20th century. For his work he has received numerous national and international awards and recognitions.
